School Community Council (SCC)

School Community Council (SCC)

The Uintah School Community Council meets monthly to discuss important issues pertinent to the success of Uintah students and families. Our topics include: School Success Plans, School LAND Trust fund usage, implementation of the Wellness Policy, community engagement, and other topics of interest to the school community. Parents have a direct role in helping to shape the policies around these issues as well as how the Trustlands monies are spent. For instance, during the 2023-2024, the Uintah SCC decided to use the bulk of our Trustlands funds to continue to pay for our English Language Development teacher, so that she can help our students who are learning English as a second language. She will also be working with our students with disabilities and with other students who may need extra support. The remaining money was used to help fund paraprofessionals to help with student learning as well as to purchase science or technology supplies for the school. As a result of this support, several students scored proficient on the WIDA language assessment this year and have moved out of needing services from a specialized teacher.

For the year 2025-2026, the Uintah SCC decided to use the bulk of our Trustlands funds to continue to pay for our English Language Development teacher, so that she can help our students who are learning English as a second language. The remaining money will be used to help fund paraprofessionals to help with student learning at each grade level as well.

Uintah’s School Community Council (SCC) consists of parent members and faculty members, including the principal. Attendance is encouraged at all meetings by anyone who would like to attend. Membership on the committee is established at the beginning of each year either by election or appointment. This year’s election, if needed, will take place on via email in early September. To become a Uintah SCC member, you must fill out the Uintah SCC Candidate form located in the resources link on this page and submit that to Bruce Simpson by the second week in September. Membership is for a 2 year term.

SCC Meeting Information

The SCC Council generally meets once a month on the 2nd TUESDAY of the month, a change from previous years. There may be a few exceptions a year due to holidays, half-days or SEP conferences.  For the last few years, meetings have been held on Zoom, and we will continue this format as it is convenient for most people. All patrons of the school are invited to attend meetings, but if they would like to speak and are not a voting SIC member, then they need to request to be put on the agenda at least 7 days in advance. Contact Marie Jefferies (SCC Chair) or Bruce P. Simpson (Principal) to be considered for the agenda.

The next meeting will be on *Tuesday, May 13th at 4:45 p.m. on Zoom. Click the link below to attend the meeting. You must either be a parent or guardian of a student in our school, an SLCSD Board Member or employee, have been invited by the SCC Chair or Principal to speak, or have another valid purpose to be at the meeting, otherwise, you will be removed from the meeting. Anyone causing any kind of disruption will be removed from the meeting and barred from reentry. We are here to support the students, teachers, parents, and the Uintah school community.
